Tony Campolo on the Colbert Report

One of the preacher/ authors most influencing my thinking currently is Tony Campolo. Back during my "Ditto-head" days, I wrote Campolo off as a bleeding heart liberal. But I then began doing something that most right-wing Christians appartently don't do - I started reading the Bible! Sarcasm aside, it's amazing what reading the Bible will do for your theology and your political views.

I would strongly encourage you to go to Campolo's website and subscribe to his podcasts. You can also enjoy this video from the Colbert Report.

I haven't yet watched the video, but he has a book out called "Red Letter Christians" that I am hoping to read soon. Have you heard of it? read it?

No time to watch the clip right now, but I will later today when I get home. Have you heard of his book 'red letter christians'? It sounds like it could be pretty good.

Campolo was great! Colbert is hilarious! It's really cool that people like Tony Campolo and Greg Boyd; people who present an alternative message (a more authentic Christian message, in my opinion) to the one that gets played out more prominently from the far right, are getting some national exposure to an audience that may typically not hear anything or want to hear anything about Christianity. Did you notice that when Colbert said, "We all know Christians don't forgive," that there was some agreeable applause from the audience? That breaks my heart, that people have that view of Christians, mostly because of a misguided agenda by those on the far evagelical right. Ok.. I'm done ranting. Great post! Thanks for sharing!
